The AMER Qualification took place last weekend, with the United States women’s floorball team securing their place at the Women’s World Floorball Championship 2025. The tournament, which will take place in Brno and Ostrava in December, now has just three qualification spots remaining.

The battle for a place at the World Championship has traditionally come down to a contest between the USA and Canada, with the two teams meeting three times. The USA got off to a strong start, winning the opening game 9-6. However, Canada bounced back with a 3-2 win in the first rematch, leaving the final game wide open. Despite trailing 2-0 after the first period, the Americans staged a comeback in Austin, Texas, to secure their sixth consecutive appearance at the Women’s World Floorball Championship.

One of the key players behind the USA’s success was Marie Haggström, who scored five points in both of the wins, taking her total for the tournament to eleven points (5+6). Klara Kyrk Gere also made a significant impact, contributing seven points in total. The Americans finished 14th in the previous championship two years ago. This year marks their first appearance in Brno and Ostrava, as Canada represented the Americas in 2013.

With their qualification, the United States joins the twelve European teams that have already secured their places. The remaining three places will be decided at the Asia-Oceania qualifying tournament, which will take place from March 18 to 22. Group A will be made up of India, Japan, New Zealand, and Thailand, while Group B will feature Australia, the Philippines, Korea, and Singapore.

The official draw for the Women’s World Floorball Championship 2025 will take place in Ostrava on Thursday, March 20. Stay tuned to find out how the groups will be formed!
